Therapy Approach

Make sense of what’s going on beneath the surface.

You’ve tried to push through and handle things yourself. Maybe you've even tried therapy before, but something still doesn’t feel right.

Does this sound familiar?

From the outside, everything looks fine, but inside, it feels like you're barely holding it together.

You have the life you thought you wanted, but something's missing, and you don’t know how to fix it.

You've been pretending for so long that you don’t know who you are anymore.

Therapy isn't about fixing you. It's about helping you understand your struggles and reconnect with your inner strength.

Therapy tailored to meet your needs.

Methods and Techniques

  • One of the first models I was trained in was CBT or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Although I've expanded my approach, I use some of these concepts regularly.

This approach empowers you by clarifying the relationship between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. We'll identify thought patterns causing anxiety, stress, or burnout. You can learn to challenge and reframe those thoughts with enhanced awareness, creating a more balanced perspective.

Over time, these changes can lead to new behaviors that promote healthier coping mechanisms and enhance your well-being.

You'll implement helpful strategies in your daily life. Focusing on practical changes in a supportive environment helps us address your challenges and create a path to positive growth.

  • Since no single approach works for everyone, I’ve expanded my practice with advanced Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) training. ACT aims to help you develop psychological flexibility and adapt to challenges through acceptation and decision making that reflect what truly matters to you.

This approach helps you stay open to difficult emotions and thoughts without getting stuck in them, allowing you to respond in ways that align with your core values. Together, we’ll use mindfulness practices to help you stay present and grounded without being overwhelmed by your thoughts or feelings.

This enhances your resilience, making it easier to view discomfort as part of life’s journey and move toward a more meaningful, fulfilling life. By focusing on what’s most important to you, we’ll create strategies to help you face challenges and live in a way that genuinely reflects who you are.

  • Neuropsychotherapy combines brain science with therapy to improve mental health.

This approach is based on the fact that your brain influences your experiences, emotions, and behaviors. By understanding how life experiences, stress, and trauma affect brain function, I can choose interventions that target the underlying problem.

These interventions work with the brain's natural processes to help change negative thoughts and emotional reactions. NeuroPsychotherapy is used along with other modalities to enhance outcomes, leading to deeper and more lasting improvements in mental health and well-being.

  • Integrating Polyvagal Theory with other therapeutic modalities offers a comprehensive approach to managing stress and anxiety. Like NeuroPsychotherapy, Polyvagal Theory helps us understand the impact of the stress response system. This theory focuses on the effects of the vagus nerve and our body's stress responses on emotions and behaviors.

By incorporating this theory, we can explore how creating a sense of safety and connection affects your ability to handle stress.

I combine Polyvagal Theory with techniques from modalities to address the physiological and psychological aspects of stress. I help you develop practical strategies for managing anxiety, enhancing emotional regulation, and building resilience.

This multi-faceted approach ensures we tackle your needs from different angles, supporting a deeper, more lasting sense of well-being.

  • Sometimes, cognitive or logical approaches alone don’t fully address the root of the problem. I’ve expanded my practice by incorporating aspects of the Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach. We’re all shaped by our past experiences, and different parts of ourselves carry those memories and influence how we see the world today.

Having mixed or conflicted emotions is perfectly normal. Internal Family Systems (IFS), also called “parts work,” helps us connect with these different parts of ourselves, allowing us to understand where our mixed feelings come from.

IFS informed practices help to uncover and work with the deeper, often hidden aspects of ourselves, providing a more comprehensive understanding of our emotions and behaviors.

    How IFS can be helpful:

    • Understanding emotions & reactions

    • Decrease emotional reactivity

    • Improving mood & relationships

    • Healing your inner child & cultivating resilience

    • Feeling grounded in the present

    • Self-awareness & compassion

    • Feeling connected to all parts of yourself
